AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied by updating to the fixed Linux kernel versions as provided by the Ubuntu security advisories USN-8726-1 and USN-8727-1. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the changes. Due to ABI changes, third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled. Follow the vendor's update instructions carefully to ensure full remediation.
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix double-free in SMB2_open() replay A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its response buffer. If SMB2_open_init() fails before the next send, cleanup retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again. Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free.
