AI-suggested

An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms the fix is included in updated kernel packages. Users should update to the fixed versions as listed in the advisory. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the patch.

Description

A high-severity double-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel SMB client was resolved. The flaw occurs in the SMB2_flush() replay logic, where a stale response pointer may be freed twice during replay attempts. This issue was fixed by reinitializing response buffer state at the start of each replay loop to prevent double-free without altering successful request handling.
