AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been incorporated into Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users should update to these fixed versions or newer to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official kernel updates.
Description
CVE-2026-64527 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/hyperv driver where the VMBus packet size was not properly validated in the receive callback. This could allow reading residual data from previous messages due to improper bounds checking before memcpy operations. The flaw was addressed by validating packet sizes and types before processing and copying data, preventing out-of-bounds reads and malformed message handling.
