AI-suggested

A patch is available that fixes this vulnerability by adding proper validation of packet_len before accessing the pad byte. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue is addressed in updated kernel packages. No additional mitigation is required once the patch is applied.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net1080 USB network driver allowed a malicious NetChip 1080 device to trigger an out-of-bounds read by sending a crafted packet with an invalid packet length. This could lead to a kernel crash due to accessing memory beyond the buffer boundary. The issue has been fixed by validating the packet length before accessing the pad byte in the packet processing function.
