The vulnerability description indicates that a fix has been implemented by validating packet_len before accessing the pad byte, so applying the latest Linux kernel updates that include this fix is recommended once available.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net1080 USB network driver allows a malicious NetChip 1080 device to cause an out-of-bounds read by sending a specially crafted short frame with a large even packet length. This triggers a read past the end of the socket buffer, leading to a kernel slab-out-of-bounds error. The issue is resolved by validating the packet length before accessing the pad byte.
