Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves an information leakage flaw in Apple macOS that could allow an application to disclose kernel memory. The issue was mitigated by implementing additional validation checks. The flaw affects macOS versions prior to Sequoia 15.7.8, Sonoma 14.8.8, and Tahoe 26.6, where the kernel memory disclosure could occur. The CVSS vector indicates the attack requires local access with low attack complexity, no privileges, and user interaction, impacting confidentiality but not integrity or availability.

Potential Impact

An attacker with local access and the ability to execute an application with user interaction could potentially disclose sensitive kernel memory contents, leading to confidentiality loss. There is no impact on system integrity or availability. This could aid attackers in further attacks by revealing sensitive kernel data.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in macOS Sequoia 15.7.8, macOS Sonoma 14.8.8, and macOS Tahoe 26.6. Users and administrators should update to these versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigations are specified.
