VulnerabilityCVE-2026-64857cvecve-2026-64857cwe-384
Published: 09/09/2026 (09/09/2026, 13:42:03 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: tirrenotechnologies
Product: tirreno

Description

tirreno versions prior to 0.10.0 suffer from a session fixation vulnerability where the session ID is not regenerated upon user authentication. This allows an attacker who can fix a session ID in a victim's browser to hijack the authenticated session. The issue is resolved in version 0.10.0 by regenerating the session ID on login and destroying the previous session. No configuration workaround exists.

Technical Analysis

The tirreno security framework has a session fixation vulnerability (CWE-384) in versions before 0.10.0. After successful authentication, tirreno fails to call session_regenerate_id(), leaving the session identifier unchanged. An attacker capable of setting a known session ID in a victim's browser (via man-in-the-middle, cross-site scripting, or cookie injection) could gain unauthorized access to the victim's authenticated session. The vulnerability is fixed in version 0.10.0 by regenerating the session ID on login and destroying the old session.

Potential Impact

An attacker who can fix a session ID in a victim's browser can hijack the victim's authenticated session, potentially gaining unauthorized access to the victim's account or data within the tirreno framework. This could lead to unauthorized actions performed with the victim's privileges.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to tirreno version 0.10.0 or later, where the session fixation issue is fixed by regenerating the session ID upon successful authentication and destroying the previous session. There is no configuration-level workaround available.
