Vendor/Project: QuantumNous
Product: new-api

Description

CVE-2026-64859 is a critical vulnerability in QuantumNous new-api prior to version 1.0.0-rc.7. It allows an authenticated administrator to obtain the root user's bearer token via the admin user list and user lookup APIs, exposing sensitive access tokens. This exposure occurs because User model objects are serialized after queries that omit the password field but still include the access token. The issue is fixed in version 1.0.0-rc.7.

Technical Analysis

QuantumNous new-api versions before 1.0.0-rc.7 have an information exposure vulnerability (CWE-200) where the admin user list and user lookup APIs return the User.AccessToken as access_token. This happens because the serialization of User model objects occurs after queries that omit the password field but do not exclude the access token. Consequently, an authenticated administrator can retrieve the root user's bearer token and access root-only system configuration APIs. The vulnerability is resolved in version 1.0.0-rc.7.

Potential Impact

An authenticated administrator can obtain the root user's bearer token, which grants access to root-only system configuration APIs. This leads to a complete compromise of the system's configuration and potentially full control over the affected system. The CVSS score of 9.1 reflects the critical severity and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade QuantumNous new-api to version 1.0.0-rc.7 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated or necessary as the fix addresses the root cause.
