Published: 10/16/2026 (10/16/2026, 12:16:00 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Apache Software Foundation
Product: Apache Kylin

Description

Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection'), Missing Authentication for Critical Function vulnerability in Apache Kylin. Impact most to the kylin services that are directly exposed to public network, which is not common. In-house kylin deployments are mostly not impacted. This issue affects Apache Kylin: from 5 through 5.0.4. Certain backend cache API misses required authentication and can cause execution of injected SQL. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 5.0.5, which fixes the issue.

Technical Analysis

Apache Kylin versions 5.0.0 through 5.0.4 contain a security vulnerability where a backend cache API lacks required authentication and improperly neutralizes special elements in SQL commands, leading to SQL Injection (CWE-89) and missing authentication for critical functions (CWE-306). This can allow an attacker to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the vulnerable API. The vulnerability is addressed by upgrading to version 5.0.5.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the backend database through a cache API that lacks proper authentication and input validation. This can lead to unauthorized data access or modification. The impact is mainly on Kylin services exposed to public networks, which is not common; internal deployments are generally not affected.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade Apache Kylin to version 5.0.5, which contains the official fix for this vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
