Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves a use-after-free condition in Apple iOS and iPadOS that could be triggered by a malicious app to cause unexpected system termination. Apple fixed the issue by improving memory management in iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6, and subsequent versions, as well as in related OS versions for macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS. The flaw allows an app to destabilize the system but does not indicate privilege escalation or data compromise.

Potential Impact

An attacker controlling a malicious app could exploit this use-after-free vulnerability to cause unexpected system termination, resulting in denial of service or system instability. There is no indication of further impact such as code execution or data leakage. No known exploits are reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

The issue is fixed in iOS 26.6 and later, iPadOS 26.6 and later, and corresponding versions of macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS. Users and administrators should update affected devices to these versions or later to remediate the vulnerability.
