VulnerabilityCVE-2026-65591cvecve-2026-65591
Published: 07/22/2026 (07/22/2026, 11:21:40 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: n8n-io
Product: n8n

Description

n8n contains a sanitizer bypass vulnerability in the legacy expression evaluator's computed-member handler. An authenticated user with workflow create or modify permissions can craft a malicious expression to bypass the sanitizer and achieve host-level code execution as the n8n process. The legacy expression engine is the default in affected versions. Fixed in n8n 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-65591 is an expression language injection vulnerability in n8n's legacy expression evaluator. It allows an authenticated user with workflow creation or modification privileges to bypass input sanitization in the computed-member handler, leading to host-level code execution under the n8n process. The vulnerability affects versions prior to 1.123.64, versions from 1.123.64 up to but not including 2.29.8, and versions from 2.29.8 up to but not including 2.30.1. The issue is resolved in n8n 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user with limited privileges (workflow create or modify) to execute arbitrary code on the host running the n8n process. This can lead to full compromise of the host environment under the n8n process context, posing a significant security risk.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available. Users should upgrade to n8n versions 1.123.64, 2.29.8, or 2.30.1 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation guidance is provided by the vendor advisory.
