CVE-2026-65653: CWE-129: Improper Validation of Array Index in Temporal Technologies, Inc. temporalio/tchannel-go
github.com/temporalio/tchannel-go did not reject TChannel call fragments containing checksum metadata but no length-prefixed argument chunks. The fragment reader left its chunk slice empty and then unconditionally selected the first element. A network peer can supply such a malformed call fragment, including as a direct initial call request after completing the standard initialization handshake. On that inbound path, the resulting unrecovered Go slice-bounds panic occurs on a library-created dispatch goroutine and terminates the hosting process. This allows remote denial of service against applications that expose the listener to untrusted peers. The impact is limited to availability; no confidentiality or integrity impact was identified.

Technical Summary
The temporalio/tchannel-go library did not properly validate array indices when processing TChannel call fragments containing checksum metadata but lacking length-prefixed argument chunks. The fragment reader ended up with an empty chunk slice but unconditionally accessed the first element, causing a Go slice-bounds panic. This panic occurs on a dispatch goroutine created by the library, terminating the hosting process and enabling a remote denial of service attack. The vulnerability affects versions from 0.0.0-20150531204735-8d8ca17342b3 up to but not including 1.22.1-0.20260720194454-0cb017f6870a. No confidentiality or integrity impact was reported.
Potential Impact
Remote attackers can cause a denial of service by sending malformed TChannel call fragments that trigger a slice-bounds panic in the temporalio/tchannel-go library. This results in termination of the hosting process, impacting availability. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the listener from untrusted peers to mitigate the risk of remote denial of service.
