Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves improper control of code generation (CWE-94) in SonicWall Email Security appliances. An authenticated attacker with access to the restricted CLI can inject arbitrary operating system commands via SNMP, which execute with root privileges. This could lead to full system compromise if exploited. No CVSS score or detailed vendor advisory is available, and no patch or mitigation guidance has been published yet.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user with CLI access to execute arbitrary OS commands as root, potentially leading to full system compromise. This elevates the attacker's privileges and control over the affected appliance.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the SonicWall Email Security restricted CLI to trusted administrators only and monitor for unauthorized access attempts.
