Published: 08/06/2026 (08/06/2026, 12:58:05 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Eukaryot
Product: sonic3air

Description

CVE-2026-66733 is a high-severity vulnerability in Eukaryot sonic3air versions up to 26.03.28.0. It involves an unbounded memory allocation in the ReceivedPacketCache::enqueuePacket() function triggered by a crafted UDP packet with the mUniquePacketID set to the maximum uint32 value. This causes the server to allocate excessive memory, leading to a crash due to an uncaught exception.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in sonic3air before commit 2492d18 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to crash the server by sending a specially crafted UDP packet. The mUniquePacketID field is read without bounds checking, causing the server to allocate one CacheItem for each missing packet ID gap up to the maximum uint32 value. This unbounded allocation exhausts host memory and triggers a std::bad_alloc exception that terminates the process.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in a denial of service by crashing the sonic3air server process due to memory exhaustion. There is no indication of code execution or data disclosure from the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or temporary workaround is indicated in the available data.
