Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-6723 is an incorrect authorization vulnerability (CWE-863) in the Simply Schedule Appointments Booking Plugin for WordPress. The vulnerability exists because the appointment update REST API endpoint does not properly restrict which fields token-authenticated customers can modify. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can manipulate sensitive appointment data, including payment status, user assignment, and service type. This affects all plugin versions from 0 up to and including 1.6.11.11.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows attackers without authentication to modify administrative fields on appointments. This can lead to integrity issues such as falsifying payment confirmations, unauthorized reassignment of appointments, and unauthorized changes to service types. There is no impact on confidentiality or availability reported. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 5.3 (medium severity), reflecting network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and impact limited to integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix is currently documented for this vulnerability. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the REST API endpoint if possible and monitor for suspicious activity related to appointment modifications.
