Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: yolanmees
Product: Spikster

Description

CVE-2026-67594 is a critical missing authentication vulnerability in the Spikster product by yolanmees. The vulnerability arises because the CipiAuth middleware, intended to protect API routes, is registered but never applied, leaving approximately 50 API endpoints unprotected. This allows unauthenticated remote attackers to access sensitive functions such as enumerating and provisioning servers, resetting root passwords, reading and writing arbitrary files on the host, and creating database users. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 score of 9.3, indicating a critical severity level. No patch or official remediation is currently confirmed.

Technical Analysis

Spikster through commit e1cdf8c contains a missing authentication vulnerability due to the unattached CipiAuth middleware, which is registered but not applied to any API route. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to invoke around 50 unprotected API endpoints. Exploitation can lead to server enumeration and provisioning, root password resets, arbitrary file read/write on the host system, and creation of database users. The vulnerability is critical with a CVSS 4.0 score of 9.3 and no known exploits in the wild have been reported. No vendor advisory or patch information is available at this time.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers full access to critical API functions, enabling them to perform highly sensitive actions such as server enumeration, provisioning, root password resets, arbitrary file manipulation, and database user creation. This can lead to complete system compromise and unauthorized control over the affected host and its data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict network access to the affected API endpoints and monitor for unauthorized activity. Applying authentication middleware correctly to all API routes is essential once a patch or update is provided.
