Published: 08/03/2026 (08/03/2026, 13:32:37 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Telenia Software
Product: TVox

Description

Telenia Software TVox 26.5.3 and prior 26.x versions, and 24.9.21 and prior 24.x versions, contain a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows attackers with access to the apache account to execute arbitrary commands as root by exploiting an insecure sudoers configuration in /etc/sudoers.d/telenia. The configuration grants the apache user NOPASSWD execution of /bin/nice, which can be leveraged to invoke arbitrary commands, enabling full root-level command execution without supplying a password.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-67609 describes a privilege escalation vulnerability in Telenia Software TVox. The vulnerability arises from an insecure sudoers configuration file (/etc/sudoers.d/telenia) that grants the apache user NOPASSWD execution rights to /bin/nice. An attacker with access to the apache account can leverage this to execute arbitrary commands as root, effectively escalating privileges without authentication. Affected versions include 26.5.3 and prior 26.x releases, and 24.9.21 and prior 24.x releases. No official patch or remediation level is provided in the available data.

Potential Impact

An attacker who has access to the apache user account can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary commands with root privileges. This leads to full system compromise, allowing unauthorized control over the affected system. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.5, indicating a high severity impact with low attack complexity and no user interaction required.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the apache user account and review the sudoers configuration to remove or restrict NOPASSWD execution of /bin/nice. Monitor for any updates from Telenia Software regarding patches or official mitigations.
