A patch is available from the vendor and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that the issue has been fixed. Users should update to patched kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability.

Description

A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's debugobjects subsystem was resolved. The issue occurs when a concurrent out-of-memory (OOM) condition disables debug objects and frees shadow objects, leading to a disfunctional timer callback. This affects the debug_object_assert_init() and debug_object_activate() functions, which must handle error pointer returns gracefully. The flaw was fixed by adding checks to ensure debug objects are still enabled before invoking print and fixup functions. Multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-31.31 and several specific older versions are affected. A patch is available from the vendor.
