AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update their Linux kernel to the fixed versions as provided by their distribution. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's HID subsystem for Wacom devices was resolved. The issue involved the wacom_parse_and_register() function starting hardware before completing input registration and pad LED/remote initialization. Failure in these later steps did not properly stop the HID hardware, potentially leaving it in an inconsistent state. This flaw was identified through static analysis and has been fixed by ensuring hardware is stopped on post-start probe failures.
