A fix is available in the Linux kernel as indicated by the fixed commit versions. Users should update to a kernel version that includes the fix identified by the commits c968b2417f6a15d35ff4b97d534af4a126cb510b, c2f2e83e3bbc5483730fd4ee903182761f1ae50f, 32390b3f06f26e366cfb27dbac4bc0196c321535, 6089f561e2c31a3ba52836c75c7d2ab50d2eea41, and 7af7ec3af091f55d01f0ebe0246d10e37f358311. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's CIFS client was fixed. The issue occurs when deferred close operations fail to allocate memory, causing a cifsFileInfo reference and open server handle to leak. This happens in specific deferred close drain paths when canceling pending deferred close work under memory pressure. The fix ensures proper release of the leaked references after allocation failure.
