A patch is available that properly validates the EHT MLE before reading the MLD ID, preventing out-of-bounds memory access. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that address this issue. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's wifi cfg80211 subsystem (CVE-2026-68472) involves improper validation of the EHT Multi-Link Element (MLE) before reading the Multi-Link Device (MLD) ID. This flaw allows a malicious access point to send a crafted short EHT MLE in an MBSSID beacon, causing the kernel to read beyond the intended buffer boundary. The issue has been resolved by adding proper validation of the MLE type and size before accessing internal fields.
