Published: 08/07/2026 (08/07/2026, 18:27:35 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: TestLinkOpenSourceTRMS
Product: TestLink

Description

TestLink versions 1.9.20 and earlier have an insecure direct object reference vulnerability allowing any authenticated user, including low-privilege guest accounts, to read arbitrary attachments without proper authorization checks. This enables attackers to enumerate attachment IDs and access files from private projects they are not members of, exposing sensitive documents and test data across the installation.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-70561 describes an authorization bypass vulnerability in TestLink 1.9.20 and prior. The flaw exists in the attachmentdownload.php handler, which accepts an integer attachment ID parameter without verifying project membership or user role permissions. As a result, authenticated users can sequentially enumerate attachment IDs to retrieve arbitrary files from private projects, bypassing the intended access control mechanisms. This exposes confidential test specifications, requirements, execution evidence, and other uploaded files across the TestLink installation.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of sensitive files from private projects to any authenticated user, including those with minimal privileges. This compromises confidentiality of project data and may lead to information leakage of proprietary or sensitive test documentation. There is no indication of impact on integrity or availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to TestLink to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious attachment download activity. Avoid using guest or low-privilege accounts for sensitive projects.
