Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves command injection via the Hostname argument in the system function of the DHCP service component (udhcpd) in D-Link DIR-822 A_101. Remote attackers can exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary commands on the affected device. The vulnerability is confirmed and publicly disclosed but impacts only unsupported product versions. No vendor-provided fix or mitigation guidance is currently available.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the affected device, potentially compromising the device's integrity and control. Since the product is no longer supported, the vulnerability remains unpatched, increasing risk for devices still in use.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is available as the affected product version is no longer supported by D-Link. Users should consider discontinuing use of the vulnerable device or replacing it with a supported model. Network-level protections such as restricting remote access to the device may reduce exposure.
