Published: 09/29/2026 (09/29/2026, 13:11:17 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Apache Software Foundation
Product: Apache DolphinScheduler

Description

An incorrect authorization check in Apache DolphinScheduler allows an authenticated user with only read permission for a project to modify a workflow instance in that project through the PUT /projects/{projectCode}/workflow-instances/{id} endpoint. The endpoint does not enforce the write permission required for this operation, allowing the user to make unauthorized changes to workflow instances. This issue affects Apache DolphinScheduler: before 3.4.3. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.4.3, which fixes the issue.

Technical Analysis

Apache DolphinScheduler versions prior to 3.4.3 contain an incorrect authorization check (CWE-863) in the PUT /projects/{projectCode}/workflow-instances/{id} endpoint. This endpoint fails to verify that the user has write permission, allowing users with only read permission to modify workflow instances improperly. The vulnerability is resolved by upgrading to version 3.4.3.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with read-only access can escalate privileges to modify workflow instances, potentially disrupting workflows or causing unauthorized changes within the project. This could affect the integrity of workflow execution and project management in affected versions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade Apache DolphinScheduler to version 3.4.3 or later, where this authorization flaw is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
