Published: 08/10/2026 (08/10/2026, 18:53:12 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: usmannasir
Product: cyberpanel

Description

CyberPanel version 2.4.3 and earlier contains an authenticated OS command injection vulnerability in the remote backup transfer feature. This flaw allows authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands by manipulating the remote server's API response, specifically through a crafted directory name that bypasses security validation and is passed unsanitized to the OS command execution function. The vulnerability was fixed in a commit identified as eca0c3c.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-71966 is an authenticated OS command injection vulnerability in CyberPanel up to version 2.4.3. The issue arises in the remote backup transfer feature where an attacker with authentication can control the remote server's API response. By crafting a malicious directory name in this response, the attacker can bypass middleware validation and inject arbitrary OS commands that are executed by the system. This vulnerability was addressed in a code commit (eca0c3c), indicating a fix is available.

Potential Impact

An authenticated attacker can execute arbitrary operating system commands on the affected CyberPanel server by exploiting this vulnerability. This could lead to unauthorized system control, data compromise, or further attacks depending on the privileges of the CyberPanel process. The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7 reflects a high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix for this vulnerability is available as indicated by the referenced commit (eca0c3c). Users should upgrade CyberPanel to a version later than 2.4.3 where this issue is resolved. Until patched, restrict access to the remote backup transfer feature to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to command execution.
