A patch is available for this vulnerability and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms the issue has been fixed. Users should update their Linux kernel to a patched version to remediate this vulnerability.
Description
A type confusion vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ims-pcu driver related to CDC union descriptor parsing has been resolved. The driver trusted the bMasterInterface0 field without verifying it matched the interface being probed, potentially allowing overwriting of private data of another interface. This flaw has been fixed by validating the control interface in the descriptor. Multiple Linux kernel versions are affected. The vulnerability is rated medium severity and a patch is available.
