A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms the issue is fixed. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond updating to a fixed kernel version.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NFS subsystem caused incorrect accounting of unstable write requests when folios are split into multiple sub-folio requests, leading to inflated dirty and writeback memory accounting. This could push the system past its dirty threshold, triggering hard-throttling of buffered writers, including unrelated NFS server threads. The issue has been fixed by charging each request only for the pages it actually covers.
