An official patch is available and should be applied to affected linux-aws kernel versions to resolve the issue. The vendor advisory confirms the fix. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the update.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i2c imx driver causes the SMBus block-read operation with a byte count of 0 to lock the bus. The atomic (polling) path rejects this operation with an error but fails to send the necessary NACK+STOP signals, causing the bus to remain stuck until a power cycle. The issue is fixed by properly handling the dummy byte and ensuring the bus is released. This flaw affects specific linux-aws kernel versions and has been patched.
