A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-8876-1 provides updates that fix this and other kernel vulnerabilities. Systems running the affected versions should be updated promptly to mitigate the risk.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AFS component was fixed by correcting error code handling in the afs_extract_vl_addrs() function. The issue involved error codes being set only on the first iteration of a loop instead of every iteration. This flaw could lead to a denial of service (system crash) but does not affect confidentiality or integrity. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to address this issue.
