A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been resolved. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's md/raid10 subsystem caused a writes_pending reference leak on write request failures. The issue occurred because certain failure paths in raid10_write_request() skipped the normal write completion path, preventing the corresponding md_write_end() call and leaking the writes_pending reference. This flaw has been fixed by modifying raid10_write_request() to return a status indicating success or failure, allowing proper release of the writes_pending reference.
