Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: siyuan-note
Product: siyuan

Description

SiYuan note-taking software versions before 3.7.4 contain a critical remote code execution vulnerability due to improper sanitization of user-authored Go templates. Malicious HTML and JavaScript can be injected into template calculations, which execute in the desktop client renderer with Node integration enabled, allowing arbitrary code execution when the database is opened.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-73043 is a critical vulnerability in SiYuan note-taking software prior to version 3.7.4. The issue arises from the Template calculation operator rendering user-authored Go templates and storing the output without sanitization. This allows attackers to inject malicious HTML and JavaScript that execute within the desktop client renderer environment, which has Node integration enabled. Consequently, this leads to remote code execution when the affected database is opened.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code remotely on the victim's system via malicious templates. This can lead to full compromise of the desktop client environment running SiYuan with Node integration enabled. The vulnerability is critical with a CVSS 4.0 score of 9.4, indicating high exploitability and impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, users should avoid opening untrusted databases and disable Node integration in the desktop client if possible.
