Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: siyuan-note
Product: siyuan

Description

CVE-2026-73052 is a critical cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in SiYuan note-taking software versions prior to 3.7.4. The issue arises because attribute-view field names are stored without HTML escaping and directly inserted into option elements using innerHTML in the sort menu. An attacker who can rename a database field can inject malicious markup that executes arbitrary JavaScript when a user opens the sort menu. If the desktop client has Node integration enabled, this can lead to code execution on the user's system.

Technical Analysis

SiYuan versions before 3.7.4 improperly neutralize input during web page generation by storing attribute-view field names without HTML escaping and interpolating them directly into option elements via innerHTML in the sort menu. This allows attackers to inject markup by renaming a database field, resulting in arbitrary JavaScript execution when users open the sort menu. The vulnerability is particularly severe in the desktop client with Node integration enabled, as it enables remote code execution.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to arbitrary JavaScript execution in the context of the SiYuan desktop client, potentially escalating to full code execution due to Node integration. This can compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system and user data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Users should upgrade to version 3.7.4 or later once available. Until then, avoid renaming database fields with untrusted input and consider disabling Node integration in the desktop client if possible to reduce risk.
