Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: siyuan-note
Product: siyuan

Description

SiYuan note-taking software versions before v3.7.4 contain a critical cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the unicode2Emoji function. This flaw allows crafted document icons with hex-encoded markup to execute code in the renderer when Node integration is enabled, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution on the host system.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-73053 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in SiYuan note-taking software affecting versions prior to v3.7.4. The vulnerability arises from improper neutralization of input in the unicode2Emoji function, which fails to sanitize codepoint branch output. Attackers can exploit this by crafting document icons containing hex-encoded markup that executes within the renderer process when Node integration is enabled, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the host system.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to arbitrary code execution on the host system due to execution of attacker-controlled markup in the renderer process with Node integration enabled. This poses a critical security risk, potentially allowing attackers to fully compromise affected systems.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, disabling Node integration in the renderer or avoiding untrusted document icons may reduce risk.
