Description

CVE-2026-73447 is a critical OS command injection vulnerability in Arista Networks EOS. It allows an authenticated, privileged user to execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges via the gRPC Network Security Interface (gNSI) Certz service and the Bootz service. Successful exploitation leads to full device compromise.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-78) affects Arista EOS-based products where an authenticated user can exploit the gNSI Certz service and Bootz service to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary OS commands as root. The flaw arises from improper neutralization of special elements in OS commands, enabling command injection. The CVSS 3.1 score is 9.1 (critical), reflecting network attack vector, low complexity, high privileges required, no user interaction, and complete confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authentication and high privileges can execute arbitrary OS commands as root, resulting in full compromise of the affected device. This includes potential control over device operations, data, and network traffic.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the affected services and limit privileged user access to trusted personnel only.
