Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Arista Networks
Product: EOS

Description

On affected platforms running Arista EOS with gRPC Network Security Interface (gNSI) Credentialz configured, a specially crafted request can cause unintended modifications to the target account's properties. This may result in the account being assigned elevated privileges or access beyond what an administrator intended.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-73454) involves improper neutralization of special elements used in a command (CWE-77) within Arista EOS when gNSI Credentialz is configured. A crafted request can manipulate account properties, leading to privilege escalation. The CVSS 3.1 score is 8.1 (high), indicating network attack vector, low attack complexity, requiring low privileges, no user interaction, unchanged scope, and high confidentiality and integrity impact with no availability impact.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker with some privileges to escalate account privileges or gain unauthorized access beyond intended administrative controls. This can compromise the confidentiality and integrity of the system without affecting availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

No explicit patch or remediation details are provided in the input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to gNSI Credentialz interfaces and monitor for suspicious requests related to account property changes.
