Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-73610 describes an authorization bypass vulnerability in SiYuan note-taking software prior to version 3.7.4. The local storage filter inadequately sanitizes keys, allowing unauthenticated users or publish readers to call the getLocalStorage endpoint and retrieve sensitive information including closed-tab history, search keywords, private document identifiers, and expanded folder paths. This results in an information disclosure vulnerability due to insufficient access control on local storage data.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers or publish readers to access sensitive local storage data belonging to the administrator, potentially exposing private document identifiers, user activity history, and search keywords. This information disclosure could lead to privacy violations and leakage of confidential user data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since the vulnerability affects versions before 3.7.4, upgrading to version 3.7.4 or later is likely recommended once official fixes are published. Until then, restrict access to the getLocalStorage endpoint and monitor for unauthorized access attempts.
