Technical Analysis
This vulnerability is a business logic flaw (CWE-863) in HPE Fabric Composer's API that permits an authenticated user with low privileges to elevate their privileges and alter configuration settings beyond their authorized scope. The issue affects Fabric Composer version 7.0.0. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:L) reflects a network attack vector with low complexity, requiring only low privileges and no user interaction, resulting in high confidentiality and integrity impact and low availability impact. No official remediation or patch information is currently provided by the vendor. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation allows an authenticated low privilege operator to gain elevated privileges and modify system settings beyond their authorized permissions. This can lead to unauthorized configuration changes, potentially compromising system confidentiality and integrity. Availability impact is low. The vulnerability could be exploited remotely over the network without user interaction.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the Fabric Composer API to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious privilege escalation attempts. Follow any vendor guidance once published.
