A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to initialize the gdma queue id properly and prevent cleanup corruption. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions listed in the advisory. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Microsoft Azure Network Adapter (MANA) driver was resolved by initializing the gdma queue id to an invalid value to prevent improper cleanup. The issue occurs because the queue id remains zero after allocation until assigned by firmware, and if creation fails early, cleanup corrupts the completion queue table by nulling a valid slot. This flaw could silently break the real completion queue owning that slot. The vulnerability affects specific Linux kernel versions used in the linux-hwe-edge product line. A patch is available to address this issue.
