A patch is available to address this vulnerability. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include the fix validating embedded address parameter lengths in SCTP processing. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been resolved in updated kernel versions. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel SCTP implementation was fixed that involved improper validation of embedded address parameter lengths. The flaw allowed malformed SCTP parameters to specify an embedded address length that exceeded the bounds of the enclosing parameter, potentially causing out-of-bounds reads during INIT or ASCONF processing. This issue was resolved by adding validation to reject malformed parameters with invalid embedded address lengths.
