A patch is available for this vulnerability and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's iommu/vt-d subsystem caused RB-tree corruption in the probe error path due to improper initialization of the RB-tree node. This flaw could lead to corruption of the device RB-tree structure during device probing. The issue has been fixed by explicitly initializing the RB-node and guarding its removal. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected, and a patch is available.
