A patch is available for this vulnerability. Users should update affected Linux kernel versions to the fixed releases as provided by their distribution vendor. The Ubuntu advisory USN-8888-1 confirms that fixes have been released. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official patches.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem allowed exclusive maps to be inserted as inner maps in map-in-map constructs, bypassing exclusivity checks. This flaw could enable an unrelated program to mutate the contents of an exclusive map, defeating metadata map exclusivity guarantees. The issue affects specific Linux kernel versions and has been assigned CVE-2026-74364 with a medium severity rating. A patch is available to address this vulnerability.
