A patch is available that fixes the issue by adding proper checks before accessing link data structures. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. The vendor advisory confirms the availability of a fix. No additional mitigation steps are indicated or required beyond applying the patch.

Description

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ath12k wireless driver was fixed. The flaw occurs when the driver attempts to change station links for an unready link, leading to a crash due to dereferencing a NULL pointer. This happens because the driver does not properly check if a virtual device was created before accessing related data structures. The issue was resolved by adding a check to prevent broken links from entering internal data structures, thus avoiding the NULL dereference. Multiple specific kernel versions are affected, and a patch is available.
