A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a fixed kernel version that includes the patch identified by the provided commit hashes. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel tracing subsystem was addressed by bounding synthetic-field strings using seq_buf. Previously, synthetic field helpers used raw strcat() to append strings in fixed-size buffers, which could lead to buffer overflows when handling long key lists, field names, or saved filters. The fix replaces strcat() with seq_buf-based string construction and returns an error if the buffer size limit is exceeded, preventing overflow.
