A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this vulnerability has been fixed. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to remediate this issue.
Description
A null pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AFS filesystem code (afs_get_tree function) has been resolved. The issue occurs when afs_alloc_sbi uses kzalloc for memory allocation, and if ctx->dyn_root is not null, as->cell and as->volume remain null but are dereferenced later, causing a kernel crash. This vulnerability can lead to a denial of service (system crash) by a local attacker.
