A patch is available for this vulnerability. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include the fix for CVE-2026-74432. The vendor advisory confirms the issue has been resolved in these updates. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rxrpc subsystem was fixed to address a reference leak in the recvmsg(MSG_PEEK) function. The issue involved the function holding a reference on an already-released call, which could lead to resource leaks. This flaw was resolved by ensuring the reference is properly dropped when MSG_PEEK is specified. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to remediate this issue.
