A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by adding checks that prevent VFs from resetting special CGX PKIND states. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this patch to remediate the issue.
Description
CVE-2026-74527 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the octeontx2-af driver. It involves improper handling of hardware PKIND programming shared between PF and VF NIX LFs on CGX LMACs. Specifically, when HiGig2 or EDSA parsing is enabled, a VF NIX LF could reset the LMAC RX PKIND or default TX parse configuration, potentially clobbering the PF setup. This issue has been resolved by adding checks to prevent VFs from modifying these special CGX PKIND states.
