A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update to patched kernel versions to mitigate this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Thunderbolt driver (CVE-2026-74585) allowed a malicious or malformed Thunderbolt device to cause an out-of-bounds access by setting a dual link port number beyond the allowed range. This could lead to dereferencing invalid pointers. The issue was fixed by bounding the dual link port number before indexing the ports array.
