A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to add the missing permission check for the KDSKBMETA ioctl. After updating, a system reboot is required to complete remediation. Follow vendor instructions for applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's virtual terminal (vt) subsystem allowed unauthorized processes to change the keyboard meta mode on non-controlling consoles due to a missing permission check in the KDSKBMETA ioctl handler. This flaw has been resolved by adding the appropriate permission check. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to address this issue.
