Since no explicit patch or vendor advisory link is provided, users should monitor official Linux kernel updates for a fix addressing CVE-2026-74751. Until then, avoid running untrusted code that could trigger this vulnerability on RISC-V Linux systems.
Description
A critical vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RISC-V architecture implementation was fixed. The issue involved the ZBB-optimized strnlen function reading memory past the specified count boundary, potentially causing a fault when the read crossed a page boundary with the next page unmapped. This was due to the loop loading one word ahead before boundary checking. The fix adjusts the boundary calculation and adds a pre-loop guard to prevent out-of-bounds memory access.
