AI-suggested
This vulnerability has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 6.2, 6.6.156, 6.12.108, 6.18.46, and 7.1.10 and later. Users and administrators should upgrade to these or later kernel versions to remediate the issue. No additional mitigations are required as the fix addresses the root cause.
Description
CVE-2026-74753 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's perf subsystem where exited events can be incorrectly accepted as group leaders. This flaw allows a new sibling event to link to a detached leader event that has been freed, potentially leading to use-after-free conditions. The issue is fixed by rejecting group leaders in the EXIT state during event validation while holding the shared context mutex.
